I’m glad to be back in the US after a whirlwind week in London performing sold out shows at Pizza Express in Soho. I know, who would think that would be a hip jazz club, but it is one of my favorite venues with a great Hamburg Steinway B, and I loved doing do a solo segment on the grand piano in the otherwise high energy show with Orefo Orakwue, Westley Joseph, Mark Jaimes and Miki Ramon.
I met people who had flown in from all over Europe and beyond....Hong Kong (ok, they didn't come JUST for me). Other fans came from: Sweden, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria; and many brought every one of my CD's for me to sign. Here are a few photos and some video of the experience. Thanks so much to the musicians, crew, and especially Jimi King and Steph for making me feel so welcome. This weekend Albuquerque, then Vibrato Dec 5 with guitarist Ray Fuller, then Dec 15 Topanga Canyon Bistro on Hammond with Thom Rotella.
Then ALOHA with family and friends.. ...
Jimi King introduces GK at Pizza Express
So, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK. But they DO celebrate Black Friday. It was super crowded at Covent Garden, Soho, Carnaby Street and everywhere I walked. Tourists shopping from all over Europe and Japan.
I also got to hear and hang with Tom O’Grady and his very cool Rhodes oriented funk band, Resolution 88 at Ronnie Scott’s. Check them out on YouTube.
